Special Programs at WWAMI

Rural/Underserved Opportunities Program (R/UOP)

The Rural and Underserved Opportunities Program was developed to give students the chance to work with a physician preceptor in between their first and second year. The program lasts 4-weeks and is based upon clinic availability.

International Health Opportunities Program (IHOP)

IHOP was designed by the UWSOM International Health Group for students between their first and second years of medical school at the University of Washington. IHOP includes intense clinical and public health training. Funding for these opportunities is provided by the Puget Sound Partners for Global Health.

Medical Student Research Training Program (MSRTP)

The Medical Student Research Training Program (or MSRTP) is a funding source for UWSOM medical student research. It provides a $4,500 stipend to support research done under the supervision of a School of Medicine faculty or affiliate faculty member.

TRACK and WRITE Programs

The Idaho Track is a unique program of the University of Washington School of Medicine. Medical students can complete all of their third-year clerkship requirements as well as all fourth-year clerkships and electives in Idaho.

The WRITE Program is a 20-week clinical education program that is given to selected third year students. While in the WRITE program students learn and develop skills that they will need to be successful in the real world.
