High School Presentations - WWAMI students make presentations ranging from health career information to health issues such as tobacco cessation.  The health issue presentations often include the use of organ specimens as an effective illustration to the young audience.  In addition, WWAMI students are encouraged to participate in other forms of outreach to high school students.  One such program occurred in Fall of 2004 at a School Health Fair in Plummer, Idaho on the Couer d'Alene Reservation.  If you'd like a presentation made at your school please call 208/886-6696.

U-DOC Summer Program - U-DOC is a free summer enrichment program offered by Washington State University and the University of Idaho WWAMI Medical Program in conjunction with the University of Washington School of Medicine.

It is a six-week program for students who have completed their junior or senior year of high school. The U-DOC goal is to foster, affirm, and encourage high school students' interest in the medical profession. This is done by allowing them to further explore careers in health care and giving them a valuable introduction to college life.

Students live in a residence hall at the University of Idaho and attend classes at Washington State University.  They also participate in several field trips relevant to various health professions; spend time learning in an anatomy lab; and enjoy fun outings in the area with their medical student counselors.

For further information and application materials, call 509/335-2602 or visit the U-DOC website at http://depts.washington.edu/omca/UDOC/

U-DOC is administrated at the WSU WWAMI office with funding through the University of Washington Office of Multicultural Affairs.  Funding is provided by a federal HCOP grant.
