Pre-Arrival Checklist

 

Tell IPO you are coming by returning all of your orientation registration and orientation-housing registration forms.  Check out your:   New Student Welcome Packet, I-901 Fact Sheet, Customs Issues and the Social Security Insert.

 

If you are sponsored by an organization, notify this organization of your plans.

 

Make travel arrangements to arrive on campus at least one day before orientation.

 

Buy traveler's checks to cover costs on the way to the university and during your first month in the U.S.  Keep the receipt separate from the traveler’s checks. (See Financial Aid) **Don’t forget to bring your registration fees!)

 

Get copies of medical records, x-rays, and prescriptions.  Also, have prescriptions written in English and in generic terms.

 

Label your luggage inside and outside, with the IPO address in Moscow.

Carry all legal documents (passport, I-20, financial docs.) on your person, not in your luggage!  You will need these to clear Customs.

 

Check with the airlines about their luggage policy and reconfirm your flight reservations 72 hours before departure.

 

Leave a contact number at home of someone you know in Moscow, or your department.  If you do not know anyone to contact, please use the International Programs Office phone number (208/885-8984) in case of emergencies.
