International Service-Learning

Combine volunteer activities with classroom learning by taking a service-learning course.  Service-learning helps you explore subjects in a larger context, giving you a better and more complete understanding of the concepts, theories, and ideas associated with the course.  It teaches you the value of active citizenship, and lets you be engaged in an important activity that directly benefits an organization or agency.  Study the roots, attitudes, and misunderstandings associated with homelessness while helping to build a house, volunteer with an NGO in the Amazon while debating development issues, supervise an after school adventure program while studying different educational pedagogies.

Our three primary programs with a focus on service-learning are the KEMU-Kenya, SANN-Nepal & PUCE-Ecuador programs.  You may discover more about these three programs by requesting a study abroad catalog or by downloading the appropriate PDF file, both of which describe the programs in depth.
