On-Site Support
CIEE provides a resident director for each of its sites. The resident director organizes on-site orientations and program excursions, organizes appropriate accommodations, answers questions, and is there to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Courses and Credit
UI students will receive credit through CIEE's School of Record, Spelman College.  All CIEE courses are graded A-F.

Some CIEE programs have themes. For example, the Khon Kaen, Thailand program focuses on Development and Environmental Science issues. As a part of this program, students work on projects that may involve a variety of political, economic, social, and environmental issues. This program really provides excellent insights and experience for students who are interested in the developing world and the impact development has on the environment.

Some CIEE programs, such as the program at the University of Hyderabad, explore the world’s largest democracy while providing service projects, internships, or volunteer opportunities. Others, such as the Macquarie University program in Sydney, Australia allows students to study in a wide range of disciplines, whether it is Aboriginal studies, music, business, or theater.

Program Fees
Students pay CIEE directly for CIEE fees. See the CIEE Program Fees website for current fees and inclusions.
 

	UI Fees Students will pay a $150 UI application fee when they apply plus the following UI registration/programming fees.
		Summer:	$300
		Semester:	$500
		Academic Year:	$1000

Scholarships
CIEE provides several different study abroad scholarships. Council International Study Program Scholarships are available to students who participate in CIEE study abroad programs.

CIEE Additional Spring 2007 Scholarships to China (new)       Application Deadline: November 1st, 2006
The U.S. Department of Education has awarded CIEE funding to provide financial assistance to students who are participating in the Chinese language programs offered by the CIEE Study Centers at Peking University (Beijing), East China Normal University (Shanghai), Nanjing University, and National Chengchi University (Taipei).  See CIEE program information on this website.  For CIEE scholarship information, go to: http://www.ciee.org/study/scholarships.aspx

Council on Intl. Educational Exchange Scholarship
Application deadline: Nov. 1 (spring), April 1(summer/fall/academic year)

Bowman Travel Grants
Application deadline: Nov. 1 (spring), April 1(summer/fall/academic year)

Robert B. Bailey Scholarship
Application deadline: Nov. 1(spring), April 1(summer/fall/academic year)

Application Deadlines
In order to meet CIEE deadlines, we ask that your application be submitted no later than the deadlines below.  However, CIEE accepts students on a first-come, first-served basis.  Once you decide that you want to participate in the program, it is a good idea to submit your application.  Many CIEE programs fill prior to their deadlines.  Earlier is better than later!
