Steps to Studying Abroad

1. Use the Program Search to find a program by:
   • Country you would like to study in
   • Subject(s) you would like to study while abroad
   • Internship/Volunteer opportunities offered with the study program
   • Service-Learning components offered with the study program
      
2. Students should get proper advising about studying abroad through the UI before making a decision.
    
3. Check out informational resources on:
   • financial aid and scholarships
   • contact information for past study abroad participants
   • quotes from study abroad participants
   • web sites for study abroad programs and universities abroad
      
4. Once you have decided on a program, apply!  UI Study Abroad application deadlines are listed below but some programs may have earlier deadlines.

5. There are a few requirements you will need to take care of "pre-departure".  You can get started as soon as you have applied. 
    
6. Get answers to questions while abroad about culture shock, registering for you next semester at UI, etc..
    
7. Get answers to your questions about transcripts, reverse culture shock, international resources at the UI, etc., once you are returning home.
