Duties/Job Description:
The intern will initially be paired with an engineer to shadow them and
assist on projects. They will be directly involved in the handling
of customers and production of marketing materials. Personnel are
encouraged to produce written and oral communication with the
purpose of productizing the results they obtain in the laboratory.
Interns will be involved in pilot-testing off-site and learning how to
interface with potential customers.
Student Qualifications:

Our current project focuses on providing a management environment
for web services in Java. The intern would assist in the design and
implementation of programs in Java, including user-interfaces, for
fairly self-contained pieces of the project. The intern would gain
first-hand knowledge of Java programming as well as project version
control in a production environment. The intern would also be exposed
to state-of-the-art programming technologies such as web services and
web-based user interfaces (JSF). The intern would also gain insight

TenXsys is a provider of innovative telemetry systems for the monitoring and tracking of animals and humans. Telemetry devices consist of a subject worn device with sensors such as temperature, motion or acoustic monitor, and a radio, and a receiver unit attached to a PC to capture the data. The PC has software that stores, analyzes and presents the data. TenXsys has 15 employees.
TenXsys has developed initial prototype systems, and sales to date have been to early adopters working collaboratively to improve the products. Additionally, TenXsys has recently received funding from In-Q-Tel for human telemetry devices, and is looking to develop and commercialize devices specific to the intelligence community. TenXsys has a need for two types of students:
- Technical Emphasis: computer engineering or computer science
and engineering student, preferably with the understanding of
microcontroller code, assembly and high-level complied code. The student
must be comfortable or willing to learn code for microcontroller devices
involving hardware interaction, and will using proto-boards to wire and
assemble prototype systems.
- Business Emphasis: a student enthusiastic about developing
