This certificate
is designed for working professionals in Moscow, Boise, Idaho Falls, and
Coeur d'Alene and at a distance. It provides background and depth in
the concepts and tools currently used in water science, including emphases
in water quality, hydrology, and water management and policy. Classes
may be available as
web classes or
Engineering Outreach
courses.
Course Selection
The certificate consists of 12 credits
selected from the following courses. A minimum of 3 credits is required in
each of the following areas: (1) water quality, (2) hydrology, and (3)
water management and policy. The 500-level (graduate) courses may require additional
prerequisites or permission from the instructor prior to registration.

Admission
Students working toward a certificate must be
admitted to the University of Idaho as either a non-degree student or as
an environmental science graduate student (refer to the
University of
Idaho General Catalog for details). All students must meet the minimum GPA
admission requirement of 2.8 or higher to enroll in 500 or higher level
courses for a certificate.
Up to 12 approved credits taken as a
non-degree student may be transferred into a graduate program. Although
the courses listed above are routinely included in the graduate curricula
for environmental science, students considering transferring credits into
the graduate program must contact the Environmental Science Program for
early advising.
