What can I expect during my first meeting with my advisor?

Your advisor will likely

bulletdiscuss the general graduation requirements at the University of Idaho and the environmental science major.
bulletanswer specific questions that you may have.
bulletplan a course of study for the upcoming semester.
.

What if I am a transfer student, what else can I expect to discuss with my advisor during that first meeting?

In addition to the three items just noted, your advisor will also likely discuss

bulletthe  evaluation from the Registrar's Office on your transfer credits (from the web).

.

What do I need to do to prepare for a meeting with my advisor?

bulletIdeally, you need to make an appointment.
bulletIf you are a transfer student, obtain an evaluation of your transfer credits from the web.  Bring it with you when you meet with your advisor.
bulletIf you have already completed courses at the University of Idaho, be ready to indicate what courses you have completed.  If you are not sure what those courses are, then obtain a copy of your transcript from the web.  Bring it with you when you meet with your advisor.
bulletIf you want to discuss the selection of courses, look over the University of Idaho Catalog and the time schedule.  You may obtain a copy of the catalog from New Student Services (Student Union Building, 2nd floor).  The time schedule is available online or from the Registrar's Office (Student Union Building, 1st floor).  The university catalog and class directory are also available on the University of Idaho website at www.uidaho.edu/registrar/registration.html.
bulletIf you have to cancel your appointment, call your advisor to say so and make another appointment.
