Welcome
to the home page of the
University of Idaho Aquaculture Research Institute. Idaho is the nation's largest commercial producer of rainbow trout.
Because of that, aquaculture, or fish farming, is one of the University's
most important areas of research.
The Institute
supports and coordinates aquaculture research at the University of Idaho, the
state and the region. UI scientists in various disciplines conduct research in both commercial and conservation aquaculture.
Who We Are:
The Aquaculture Research Institute
was created in 1988 to facilitate aquaculture research at the
University. We work with the
Colleges of Agricultural and Life
Sciences,
Natural Resources,
Business
and Economics,
Science and
Engineering.
Faculty within the Institute have appointments in one or more of these
colleges.
We support graduate student research, but do not offer classes or
grant degrees. This is the responsibility of the partner
colleges. All students interested in
graduate education need to apply for
admission to the
Graduate School
at the University of Idaho.
