Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC): Important site for MCAT and AMCAS applications. (MCAT: Medical College Admission Test; AMCAS: American Medical College Application Service) AMCAS is a non-profit, centralized application processing service for applicants to the first-year entering classes at participating U.S. medical schools. In the U.S. most medical schools participate in the AMCAS.   Applicants to medical schools that do not participate in AMCAS, as well as all advanced standing and transfer applicants, should contact schools directly for application instructions. This site includes links to U.S. and Canadian allopathic medical schools.

Pre-Osteopathic Medicine

American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM): Important site for AACOMAS applications. (AACOMAS: American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service) AACOM offers prospective students a convenient, centralized application service on-line for accredited osteopathic medical schools. Through AACOMAS, students can file one electronic application then AACOMAS verifies and distributes the information to each of the colleges designated by the applicant. This site includes links to U.S. osteopathic medical schools.

WWAMI Medical Education Program, University of Washington: (www.washington.edu/medicine/som/ and www.webs.uidaho.edu/wwami/) The WWAMI program is a regional cooperative medical program in the states of Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. 18 seats are allocated annually to legal Idaho residents in this program.

Pre-Podiatry

American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine (AACPM): Caring for a variety of people with a variety of foot- and ankle-related ailments is what Podiatric Medicine is all about. And helping you find the right podiatric school is what the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine is all about. At this site, you can learn about the colleges and about Podiatric Medicine as a career. You can apply through the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine Application Service: AACPMAS Electronic Application. This site is also a link to U.S. podiatric medical programs. Traditionally the MCAT has been the only standardized test required for admissions to the colleges of podiatric medicine. However, some colleges (Barry University School of Graduate Medical Sciences, California School of Podiatric Medicine, Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, and Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine) have indicated their willingness to accept the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). The MCAT is scored in each of the following areas: Verbal Reasoning, Physical Sciences, Writing Sample, and Biological Sciences. MCAT exams taken more than three (3) years prior to matriculation are not acceptable.

American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA): Podiatrists provide the vast majority of foot health care services in the United States. The primary mission of the APMA is to improve the quality of foot care in the nation. This mission includes attracting qualified young men and women to the field and increasing the awareness of the importance of foot health among the general public and other health professionals. The APMA is located in Bethesda, Maryland, just outside Washington, DC, and the Association has component societies in every state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the federal service. APMA represents its member podiatric physicians from across the country. The APMA also has more than 20 affiliated and related organizations. These organizations focus their attention on education, research, and specialty areas of interest, such as dermatology, pediatrics, radiology, and sports medicine, among others. The Association's Internet presence allows APMA to disseminate more foot and ankle health information to serve the public better.

Pre-Physician Assistant

The Association of Physician Assistant Programs (APAP): APAP, established in 1972, is the national organization representing physician assistant educational programs in the United States. APAP’s mission is to assist PA educational programs in the instruction of highly educated physician assistants. The association offers an array of services for PA programs, faculty, students, and the general public aimed at fulfilling this mission. Students apply on-line through CASPA: Central Application Service for Physician Assistants (https://secure.caspaonline.org/ ). American Chiropractic Association (ACA): The ACA, based in Arlington, VA, is the largest professional association in the world representing doctors of chiropractic. The ACA provides lobbying, public relations, professional and educational opportunities for doctors of chiropractic, funds research regarding chiropractic and health issues, and offers leadership for the advancement of the profession. With approximately 18,000 members, the ACA promotes the highest standards of ethics and patient care, contributing to the health and well-being of millions of chiropractic patients. This site includes a link to all accredited programs of chiropractic medicine. For college publications or information on admissions requirements, pre-professional curricula, grants and other financial aid, please correspond directly with the admissions office of the CCE-accredited program or institution in which you are interested.

Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE): The CCE is the agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education for accreditation of programs and institutions offering the doctor of chiropractic degree. CCE seeks to insure the quality of chiropractic education in the United States by means of accreditation, educational improvement and public information. CCE develops accreditation criteria to assess how effectively programs or institutions plan, implement and evaluate their mission and goals, program objectives, inputs, resources and outcomes of their chiropractic programs.
